Mochi
It's surprisingly easy to make, but a very messy job. Cleaning up was annoying! I coated the mochi with milo. Hehe doesn't look very appetising, but trust me, they taste authentic!
Ingredients
1 cup glutinous rice flour
1 cup water (use tea or add flavouring essence)
1/4 cup sugar
Food coloring (optional)
1 cup water (use tea or add flavouring essence)
1/4 cup sugar
Food coloring (optional)
Directions
Mix all ingredients together in a microwavable dish, cover with cling flim and microwave for 4-8 minutes.
Remove from microwave, cut into small pieces.
Mochi is easier to handle when coated e.g. with katakuriko (potato starch), kinako (soy flour), cocoa powder, green tea powder etc.
Ideas for fillings include chocolate, red bean paste or ice cream.
